Our Vision
Who would have imagined that the property where Pastor Kempton’s teenage life was almost taken by gun violence (former Clark Jr. High) would be the same place he would return to decades later—to give life—through Jesus Christ?
Only God could write such a dramatic story filled with destiny!
This is our new property located at 3310 State Street. The future home of City of Joy Fellowship. Many said that it could never be acquired by a small church plant in East St. Louis, but God had other plans!

In 2014, God called Kempton Turner “Pastor K” and his family of seven from Minneapolis to East St. Louis over 10 years ago—to love his hometown, preach the Good News of Jesus, and plant City of Joy Fellowship.
Since then, through many mistakes, failures, challenges, and victories, God has been pleased to slowly but surely bring joy, hope, and blessing to our city—one block, one home, one soul at a time.
